NATURA MORTA

Collection of mirrors inspired by Morandi’s Natura Morta figures. By painting compositions of ordianry objects such as bottles and boxes, Morandi was searching to make a poetic space and a new image in the tradition of Still life.
Trying to make a new image, I was searching for a form that could fit in the new perspective, to change the function of frames. Accidentally, the shapes of bottles matched the new function I had in mind. I worked and somehow played with these forms, thinking about alternative materials such as mirror polished stainless steel and a combination of them with classic materials like wood. Through this process the result became this concept that enables me to somehow endlessly create, functioning and producible objects, with a new form objective.
The existence of frames I believe is embedded in its functional connection to the mirror. It is there to protect the mirror itself, being a ground for articulation and keeping the usage of mirror space flawless. Frames are usually around the mirrors, because of sharp glass edges. By using stainless steel there’ s no more reason to repeat the same old method, so the frame can be positioned differently and the mirror part can have different forms too. Here through this concept, the Frame is not something extra in the corner, it’s a part of the object.
