Zepter International is pleased to announce the 2026,
21st Artzept Design Competition entitled:

Impermanence & Memory

All interested artists – sculptors, art students and others are kindly invited to submit proposals for the concept solutions to the topic: Impermanence and Memory – the Memorial Monument as a work of art.

The concept solution ought to be a complex abstract or associatory composition which comprises two figures – one of a woman, represented as a patron of art, culture and the society in general, and the other – of a man, represented as a donor, patron and the founder of lasting values.

The aim of this call is to inspire artists to envisage a memorial not only as a commemoration site but also as an artistic form that shapes the relation between memory, space and symbolism through a sculptural expression. A memorial, as a part of the cultural scenery, has got a potential to surpass its functional role and thus become an authentic work of art that communicates with the observer and keeps trace of human existence. Throughout history, such monuments have always been a significant part of visual arts and cultural heritage. Artists are invited to explore the potentials of contemporary abstract sculptural approach to this topic through form, material, symbols and their connection to space. The entries should reflect contemporary artistic trends while the authors maintain their artistic licence to interpret and freely express their ideas. The call opens up space for artistic exploration, exchange of ideas and contemplations on how a sculpture can contribute to shaping space, reminiscence and collective memory.

We specially encourage analyses of the relation between sculpture and space, the durability of the material and the symbolic meaning of the form. Selected conceptual solutions will be presented at an exhibition, in the catalogue and at a public presentation with the purpose of promoting the author’s sculptural approach in fashioning memorial monuments and supporting modern artistic dialogue on the culture of commemoration.
Materials: granite, marble, steel and bronze.
Area covered by the completed sculpture work: 3 m in length and 2.8 m in width.

An Expert Jury, appointed by Zepter International, will evaluate all submissions and select the most outstanding solutions that best embody the spirit of this competition.
