Art Wall Installations

Manuel Olivares
Italy

My project, intends to enhance the intrinsic aspects of the objects, emphasizing the ability they have to escape from mere functionalism by projecting the imagination of the user towards different horizons. A chair and a plastic table, two of the most common objects in our daily life, occupy the entire facade of the building. What stimulated me are not the objects themselves, but rather their way of occupying space, their way of presenting themselves and of existing. I conceived the installation inspired by the bas-relief technique. I was interested in representing a modern object through an ancient practice. I conceive contrasts as a source of dynamism, a sort of internal energy which, if accompanied by the "right" form, can reveal unexpected aspects and potentials of matter. As materials I have considered for this project, there is galvanized steel or alternatively concrete. Both materials respond to my desire for "play" between the harshness of the material and the sinuous and stretched lines of the representation. In both the first and second cases, the work should be made in separate modules to be assembled on site by welding and polishing in the case of metal or with specific glues for concrete modules.
