The founder of the Zepter International Design Award ArtZept
Madlena Zepter, the greatest Serbian patroness and philanthropist of our times, also called the first lady of European culture, was born in Belgrade. Her mother came from a highly-regarded Orthodox family from Vojvodina and her father was from a hardworking, Slovenian Catholic family.
the credit for making her a benefactress goes to her middle-class upbringing education, and university degree in literature from the School of Philology. She sees her vocation as promoting culture preserving the heritage, and fostering talented people. Madlena and Philip have a daughter, Ema. In 1980 on their crusade to success, which is the keystone of Zepter’s mission, they left Vienna, through Linz, for Monaco, heading towards a better world: Zepter International. Operating in fifty countries, Zepter International is based on a value system in which successful business and material well-being comprise a natural balance to dedication to philathropy, art and culture.
to refugees, children, the sick, the Church, athletes, artists (Dobrica’s Ring), scholarships (the Zepter Fund has awarded scholarships to further the studies of 500 top young people from Serbia), abandoned animals... Zepter Fund helps cultural, scientific and artistic institutions in Serbia and Europe (it is participating in the reconstruction of the Opera in Monte Carlo). It is building settlements for the homeless in Africa, financing projects to protect children in India, financed a humanitarian concert in Petra in Pavarotti’s honor... She is the patroness of two highly regarded literary prizes – Bazar magazine’s “Women’s Pen” and the European literary award “Madlena Zepter” (le prix littĂ©raire EuropĂ©en Madeleine Zepter), in addition to the ARTZEPT International Design Award.
In Italy she has numerous humanitarian activities; she and her husband received, on equal footing, the great American award Ellis Island Medal of Honor, and in Serbia she is the sole recipient of a Gold Wreath for contributions to the development of Serbian culture with many years of patronage of the arts and donations. Madlena Zepter is the author of the four-volume edition MADLENA – Centuries, Decades, Days, consisting of a biography of the company, an autobiography, and a review of the overall endowment, heritage and humanitarian results.
