Education and training

She graduated in the History of Art from the Faculty of Philosophy, Belgrade. She has always been interested in the Theory of Art and Criticism in the Applied and Fine Arts.

Career

Gordana Biba Marković lives in Belgrade where she works as the Head and Curator of the Mala Galerija /Small Gallery/ of the Serbian Association of Applied Arts, Artists and Designers (ULUPUDS). During her 30-year-long professional career, she has written numerous articles for newspapers, journals, the radio and television, in particular she has written introductory texts for individual and group exhibitions and for other art projects.

Gordana Biba Marković has brought many artists to public attention. She has been the author and organiser of numerous individual and group exhibitions.

Focusing on specific issues, these exhibitions testify to the complexities of Applied and Fine Arts. She has participated in numerous conferences, symposia and round-table discussions concerning cultural issues. During her working life, Gordana Biba Marković has acted many times as a member of councils or juries for awards at various important cultural events, and has curated numerous theme exhibitions and shows.

She has created the concept of the “Cup” exhibition, which started in 1992 as a Yugoslav exhibition and was transformed in 1996 into an international triennial show.

She is also a member of the AICA (International Association of Art Critics) and of the ICOM (International Council of Museums). In recent years she has been performing the duty of Art Director and a member of the Artzept International Design Award jury since 2004.
