“Sunrise all around” is a concept that seems so obvious at first glance that I almost dismissed it as an idea. But when playing around with it more, the effect seemed just too striking to ignore. The light installation consists of just two parts, a monolithic, glossy black stainless steel cyl- inder with a wavy surface and an LED light-globe placed in the centre. The steel surface reflects the surrounding lights during the day and just the globe’s light at night.
The sun rising from the ocean, frozen in time by steel and light.
The ethereal warm glow draws people in from a distance to explore its source. And so, the sculpture becomes a natural gathering spot to connect, have a chat or a drink together. The sunrise, an event usually unreachable in the distance, now happens in the centre of a group of people, which completely changes perception.
